Matt Scerri : Director

Matt founded Static Dance Studios in 2005 and, since this time and under his passionate leadership, it has become a leading performing arts studio in the Western Suburbs of Sydney.
Matt started his dance training at the age of four and is accomplished in all styles of dance and performing arts. He is a qualified stunt and tumbling coach through USASF, a certified cheerleading coach and also attained his qualification as a Glenn Wood Tap (G.W.T.) Teacher. 

As a performer, Matt embarked on his professional career at the young age of 15 and his credits include performing in Guy Sebastian’s music video, numerous corporate events in prominent venues and modelling throughout the Greater Sydney Region. His professional career has also provided him opportunities to perform in locations including Disneyland, Euro Disney, New York, Paris, Las Vegas, London and Hollywood as well as on the Majesty of the Seas cruise ship. 

The fresh style of his choreography has led to Matt being requested to create multiple performances for the MTA Awards, Banag Banag and many other corporate events. His routines for Static Dance Studios have led to many major awards at eisteddfods and competitions throughout Australia. 

Matt’s expertise in identifying talent has been recognised by the Crown International Dance Championships, where he has been on the panel of judges for 2008-2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and was also a Head Judge for the World IDO Dance Championships in 2013. 

Already a wealth of knowledge and proficiency in the dance world Matt’s abilities have extended to the Aerial and Acrobatic Arts sector where he has become an experienced Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor which has aided him in joining an elite team of Australian Acrobatic Arts Examiners and recently was appointed an Acrobatic Arts Pin Program Examiner. 

His passion and enjoyment of teaching is evident in the friendly and family atmosphere that exists. This has led to Static Dance Studios being an award-winning and superior performing arts studio.

Trish has been dancing for 13 years in the local area. During High School she has performed in many musicals and State Dance Festivals. She has performed in many musicals and State Dance Festivals. She has also performed in many large events such as The Schools Spectacular, & The Youth Olympics Opening Ceremony, which Trish was the choreographer for.

Trish was a Penrith Panthers cheerleader for two years performing on the footy show and rugby league presentations. In 2001 she travelled around the world with “Odyssey Onstage” performing in places such as Disneyland, Paris, Greece, London and the Caribbean.

Trish has worked at numerous promotional events performing in clubs and also helping backstage at the Mary Kate and Ashley fashion launch. Trish also worked for Westfields summer fashion, helping all stores put their summer look together. Trish has also competed in many local eisteddfods and competitions with great results and has now been teaching in the local area for years. Trish had also teamed up with Captivate this year, a performing arts program for Catholic Schools, as there permanent dance tutor. Trish has been working with students at Parramatta Diocese, Catherine McAuley, St Clare’s Catholic High School and Nagle High School.

Corey started dancing at a late age of 15 and quickly found his passion for the performing arts.
Training at various schools in Sydney lead him to successfully auditioning for So You Think You Can Dance, making it through to the Top 100 week.
In 2011 Corey successfully auditioned for Norwegian Cruise Lines and he has been performing on various ships within the company for the past 8 years. Over these years with Norwegain Cruise Lines he has become a Dance Captain onboard the ships and has also been a part of the audition team for the company since 2013.
Amongst his performing he has become a highly regarded teacher and choreographer here in Sydney.

Carly has been dancing since the early age of 3. She is trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Contemporary & elite gymnastics. Carly completed her certificate IV in performing arts at Brent Street in 2007, she has been professionally dancing since 2008.

In 2010 Carly was honoured to be a part of the 8 dancer on Australia's 'So You Think You Can Dance'.

Some of her other credits include; Kylie Minogue, Danni Minogue, Megan Trainor, Rudimental, Timomatic, Human Nature, Jessica Mauboy, Rickki Lee, The Voice, X factor, Australia's Got Talent, Next Top Model, The Logie Awards, Gabriella climi, Alexandra Burke, Hey Hey it's Saturday, Bonds, Fosters, Aladdin & His Wonderous Lamp & many more along the way.

In 2012 Carly moved to Los Angeles to further her dance career & training. Since returning to Sydney in 2014 she has been working as a commercial dancer in Sydney, teaching & Adjudicating across Australia.

Nicole has been dancing since the early age of 3. She is trained in jazz, tap, ballet, musical theatre, contemporary and hip-hop. Nicole completed her Certificate IV in Performing Arts at Urban Dance Centre in 2007 and has been dancing professionally since then. Some of her credits include ‘So You Think You Can Dance – Series 4 – Top 100’, Kelly Clarkson, Boyz II Men, Johnny Ruffo, Denni Hines and many more. Since 2012 Nicole has been working with the Locreado Dance Company, both performing and choreographing. Nicole has trained intensively in Los Angeles to further her dance career and training. Nicole specialises in both Contemporary and hip-hop and is renowned for her energy and unique style.

Maddyson has been dancing since the age of 2. She has trained in Jazz, Tap, Hip-hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet and Musical Theatre. Maddyson has trained with the Locreado Dance Company from 2012 through to 2017 and has worked closely with mentors such as Loredo Malcolm, Jason Winters, Amy Campbell and Matthew Antonucci. She has travelled both domestically and internationally with the company, performing in shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Central Coast and China. She also had to opportunity to assist Loredo in many classes around the country such as the ‘Winter Dance Camp’ at Sydney Dance Company, masterclasses at dance studios and workshops under Loredo Malcolms name, as well as assist in the auditions for his Sydney, Brisbane and Central Coast interstate programs. Maddyson was recently selected to represent Australia in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Long Beach California in 2016 and landed herself a 3-month scholarship to train at the world-renowned Millennium Dance Complex. She has worked with choreographers such as Matt Lee, The Squared Division, Cat Santos, Courtney Horton, Carly Smith, Marko Panzic and Stephen Tannos and continues to seek choreographic education through taking classes around Sydney. Maddyson is currently enrolled in studying Secondary Education at the University of Western Sydney

Eliam Royalness is a choreographer & performer from Sydney’s south-west and has been creating and performing dance works since his early teenage years. He originates from Wellington, New Zealand, and is a mix of European and Polynesian cultures, which has a strong influence in his movement.

Equipped with the raw training & experiences in various street dance styles, combined with his calm character quality and his respectful yet diverse aspect on Hip-Hop, Eliam is easily a unique being with a fresh view on dance.
He is the creator and director of New South Wales’ number 1 mega hip-hop company, The Pioneers MC, who have represented Australia at Hip-Hop International in 2014 and 2015, in the U.S.

Eliam’s style is influenced by elements of various dance genres under the street dance umbrella. He fuses elements and foundations from Waacking, Dancehall, Old & New School Hip-Hop, and Vogue, to create an energetic and entertaining dance style. Eliam’s inspiring drive and passion shows in his creations, professional character, and his
continued work through The Pioneers MC and its members.

Isaac started dancing at the age of 6 after a childhood fascination with the popular children’s TV show, ‘HI-5’ and the first Barbie animated film, ‘Barbie and the Nutcracker’. At age 11, Isaac met the principal dancer of the Scottish Ballet Company, Tama Barry, who coached him for a full week in his country home of Armidale. Tama proceeded to recommend that Isaac travels to Sydney on a monthly basis to attend classical lessons at one of Sydney’s most acclaimed schools, Ecole Ballet and Dance Theatre.Thus began his dance journey in Sydney which open the doors to several opportunities. Isaac worked as an extra in Dance Academy the Movie at age 16, modelled for Dance Train Magazine, performed as a principal dancer for the Schools Spectacular and later auditioned for Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year where he would solidify his training and professional development over two years.

In 2019, Isaac accomplished more than he thought possible - modelling for Sydney Dance Company’s merchandise line and the Sofitel Hotel, joining the professional company of SDC as an understudy while working with artistic director Rafael Bonachela, performing as a soloist in a music video for artist ‘Dan Romeo and the Lone Strangers’, choreographing and performing in the corporate event Miss Pole Dance Australia and winning his second award for contemporary choreography from Sharp Short Dance Festival. All of this while completing an Advanced Diploma in Dance and teaching in 2 schools around Sydney.

Head Teacher for Ready Set Dance at Static Dance Studios; Performer for Junkyard Beats and Creator and Choreographer of Two Soles the Tap Duo.

Tania started dancing at the age of 6. She learnt under the BAL Syllabus then continued to pursue her passion for tap by training under many renown artists including Sarah Reich, Derick Grant, Ted Louis Levy, Roxanne Butterfly, Omar Edwards as well as many other Australian artists.

Tania is a full-time dance teacher in Sydney. She is inspired by all her students whether they be children, adults or those with intellectual or physical limitations.

In 2019 Tania joined Junkyard Beats and has been performing with them ever since. In 2022, Tania toured with Junkyard Beats, performing The Box Show in over 24 theatres across NSW, QLD and VIC. Tania also performed The Box Show on the P&O Cruise Ship Pacific Adventurer in January 2023.  

Some of Tania’s other achievements include: teaching at Australian Tap Festival in 2019; being part of The Forge Tap Company and performing in the show Alpha and performing for Sydney Musician/ Entertainer Ramos Jakob. Her other exploits include choreographing and performing in multiple shows and major performance like Sydney’s Chinese New Year Street Festival Parade and Special Olympics Australia.

Jazmin has been dancing since the age of 3 and is a confident dancer in a plethora of different disciplines including jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, tap and musical theatre. Jazmin has completed Grades 1 to 7 in Cecchetti Ballet exams and Grades 8 to Intermediate in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet exams. Additionally she has completed all Grades in Glenn Wood Tap examinations. 

Jazmin has worked closely with mentors such as Loredo Malcolm, Rebecca Condino, Vi Lam and Mitch Michaels when she trained with the Locreado Dance Company in 2018 and 2019 in two shows including  ‘Affinity’ and ‘The Variety’. 

She has performed at several professional gigs such as the Western Sydney Business Awards, weddings, charity events and as a backup dancer filming with chanel 9 ‘Dance Boss’. Most recently, Jazmin has joined the NRL cheerleading squad for the Parramatta Eels and is currently studying at the Australian Catholic University.

Kylie has been a professional aerial performer for 7 years, starting in dance at a young age. She toured China in LaLuna Cirque and Sun Magic Circus, performing her dynamic lyra act and choreographing for the show. Performing for corporate events and festivals around Australia, Kylie specializes in aerial hoop, cyr wheel, synchronised aerial silks, and duo hoop - placing 1st runner up at Miss Lyra Australia National Finals 2019. She has also performed aerial sphere, solo silks, dance trapeze, aerial heart, doubles trapeze and Spanish web. On the ground, Kylie danced in the Tap Dogs style "Eternity" piece at the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony, is a IASF Level 4 Tumble Coach, has over 20 years teaching experience and featured in the Daily Telegraph and Sydney Morning Herald for coaching this year. TV and film credits include feature films Dance Academy: The Comeback, Thai film 2Become1 and Golden Globe-winning TV series Top of the Lake. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Kylie offers expert level feedback to her aerial and tumble students.

Breanna began dance training at the age of 3 in styles including Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary and Lyrical. By the age of 10 she was competing in eisteddfods as a soloist doing both dance, acro and contortion. She competed in numerous competitions and talent quests and excelled in her field.

At only 14 she began performing professionally for Dargie Entertainment & WB Productions at 15 performing as a soloist contortionist for corporate events. Breanna has performed at events including Dargie Entertainments production of the Katy Perry show, multiple weddings, performed as a featured artist with Justice Crew, and performed at places including The Star Casino in Darling Harbour & Canberra Casino, ACT.

In 2019 she completed a year of Fulltime dance training and received a Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) with Dargie Entertainment.

Breanna’s passion is creativity & helping younger students explore possibilities through Dance, Acro & Contortion. She thrives on pushing boundaries & always trying to bring something new to the industry.

Peta started her dance career at the age of 5 years when she attended her first Ballet lesson with Lynette Denny in Mackay Queensland, during her years as a student of Warralong Dance Studio Peta was fortunate to receive training from many wonderful tutors…Kathleen Gorham, Francois Klaus, Robyn White & Shirley Treacy to name a few. Peta is trained in all genre of dance and loved the excitement of competition as a young student. Peta is a Life Member and Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and has been Principal of Accent on Dance for the past 30 years, during this time Peta has tutored & mentored many young dancers & teachers. Past students have gone on to pursue careers in performance and teaching.

Serving as Chairperson & Dance Convenor of Hawkesbury City Eisteddfod for over 30 years, Peta is dedicated to developing & encouraging young dancers. In 2017 Petawas recognised by her community when she was awarded the Australia Day Community Arts Award by Hawkesbury City Council.

During her teaching career Peta has been Chairperson of the Royal Academy of Dance Regional Advisory Panel where she enjoyed the opportunity of supporting other teachers & encouraging young talented dancers. Peta is a professional choreographer & during her time on the panel she enjoyed the opportunity of staging the Isobel AndersonAwards Finals & being involved in the organisation of many Dance events. In July 2017, Darcy Bussell presented Peta with The Royal Academy of Dance Presidents Award in recognition of her years of service to the Academy.

Peta is passionate about dance and has organisedperformance tours for her students travelling on four different occasions to the USA to participate in workshops & performances at Disneyland & also at Universal Studios.

In her role as an adjudicator, Peta imparts knowledge & critique in a kind & caring manner, ensuring that each competitor is given helpful advice & positive feedback.

Peta continues to fulfil her love of dance & encouragement of our young dancers.

Chloe started dancing at age 3 at her local dance studio and never looking back.
At just 15 years old, Chloe made the decision to study performing arts fulltime with Dargie Entertainment for 3 years and attained her Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) studying all styles of dance, acrobatics, singing and acting.

In 2019 Chloe was offered a representation contract with Dargie Agency and since has been working extensively with various companies in Sydney performing for Corporate events and Cabaret shows as a dancer, Acrobat and showgirl.
At just 19 years of age she is making waves in the industry. She has already performed professionally at corporate events for Meccaland, Hyundai China, Sydney Hockey, Invictus Games, Australia Open and many more.

In 2022 Chloe will be performing as a dancer and adagio artist with ‘The Golden Hour Cabaret’ and Dance Captain for an Australian Tour. Chloe is a very passionate teacher and loves to watch her students push past their boundaries and step outside their comfort zone. Chloe looks forward to teaching at SDS and watching her students grow!

Laura started her dance training at age 3 where she fell in love with the art of dance. Growing up she trained in all styles of dance as well as gymnastics, however she always had a passion for Classical Ballet.

Laura’s love for teaching kicked in during her teenage years when assisting in her home studio, which very quickly turned into teaching multiple classes a week while still at school. She loved to perform and continued to perform through her teenage and adult years however she knew she would prefer to peruse her passion for teaching dance and pass on her love and knowledge to future dancers.

Laura has attended various summer school programs through her dance training years.
She spent 2 years at Brent Street undergoing her Diploma in Dance Teaching Management.
Laura has her Registered Teachers Status with the Royal Academy of Dance and is also Acrobatic Arts accredited.

Some of Laura’s troupe and Solo choreographic work has taken out Titles at competitions such as Showcase, Dance Life Unite and Sydney Eisteddfod.

Laura’s hope to all her students is that she can provide an encouraging and positive learning environment for each student to reach their full potential and discover their love of dance.

Emily began dancing at the age of 3 and in this time has become competent in the genres of hip hop, jazz, tap, contemporary, musical theatre, lyrical and ballet. Emily has been trained in RAD ballet, Glenwood Tap and Tap Beats by Nathan Sheens.

 

Emily recently graduated from Brent Street where she attained her Diploma of Dance (elite performance).

 

In 2022, Emily performed with Tones and I, as well as been involved in numerous corporate theatre events, Christmas show parades, Charity shows and Professional productions for various companies.

 

In 2023, Emily will make her television debut in the documentary series "Dance Life" on Amazon Prime, where we follow her journey as a full time dance student, performer and teacher.

 

Emily is thrilled to be a part of the Static Dance Family and to pass on her joy and passion to the next generation!

Trissette started dance at the age of 11 and has trained in many styles such as Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Pointe, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acrobatics and Musical Theatre.

Trissette’s main passion lies in the art of Ballet and she has excelled in formal dance examinations through Ballet Australia and is currently studying both Intermediate RAD and Pre - Elementary BAL.

Dance has always been at the forefront of Trissette’s life since her childhood with her passion growing each year. Transitioning into teaching was a natural progression of this passion as Trissette desires to spread her love of dance with her students and help them grow in dance and confidence, achieving this through her work with many preschool dance programs such as Kinderballet and Ready Set Dance

Trissette enjoys teaching Jazz and has worked with students between the ages of 6 through to seniors in schools around the Sydney area. She also has taught adult Ballet Barre Fit classes through her work as a personal trainer.
