Matt Scerri Director
Matt founded Static Dance Studios in 2005 and, since this time and under his passionate leadership, it has become a leading performing arts studio in the Western Suburbs of Sydney.
Matt started his dance training at the age of four and is accomplished in all styles of dance and performing arts. He is a qualified stunt and tumbling coach through USASF, a certified cheerleading coach and also attained his qualification as a Glenn Wood Tap (G.W.T.) Teacher.
As a performer, Matt embarked on his professional career at the young age of 15 and his credits include performing in Guy Sebastian’s music video, numerous corporate events in prominent venues and modelling throughout the Greater Sydney Region. His professional career has also provided him opportunities to perform in locations including Disneyland, Euro Disney, New York, Paris, Las Vegas, London and Hollywood as well as on the Majesty of the Seas cruise ship.
The fresh style of his choreography has led to Matt being requested to create multiple performances for the MTA Awards, Banag Banag and many other corporate events. His routines for Static Dance Studios have led to many major awards at eisteddfods and competitions throughout Australia.
Matt’s expertise in identifying talent has been recognised by the Crown International Dance Championships, where he has been on the panel of judges for 2008-2012, 2014 and 2016 and was also a Head Judge for the World IDO Dance Championships in 2013.
His passion and enjoyment of teaching is evident in the friendly and family atmosphere that exists. This has led to Static Dance Studios being an award-winning and superior performing arts studio.
Patricia Scerri Director
Trish has been dancing for 13 years in the local area. During High School she has performed in many musicals and State Dance Festivals. She has performed in many musicals and State Dance Festivals. She has also performed in many large events such as The Schools Spectacular, & The Youth Olympics Opening Ceremony, which Trish was the choreographer for.
Trish was a Penrith Panthers cheerleader for two years performing on the footy show and rugby league presentations. In 2001 she travelled around the world with “Odyssey Onstage” performing in places such as Disneyland, Paris, Greece, London and the Caribbean.
Trish has worked at numerous promotional events performing in clubs and also helping backstage at the Mary Kate and Ashley fashion launch. Trish also worked for Westfields summer fashion, helping all stores put their summer look together. Trish has also competed in many local eisteddfods and competitions with great results and has now been teaching in the local area for years. Trish had also teamed up with Captivate this year, a performing arts program for Catholic Schools, as there permanent dance tutor. Trish has been working with students at Parramafta Diocese, Catherine McAuley, St Clare’s Catholic High School and Nagle High School.
Corey Podbereski Artistic Director
Corey has only been dancing for 7 years but has quickly grown as a performer and teacher. He has successfully completed his HSC in Dance and had all his performances selected for “Call Back”, a showcase of exemplary performances. He has starred in many large scale performances such as The Schools Spectacular, Youth Olympics Opening Ceremony, State Dance Festivals and private/corporate functions.
Corey has also assisted in choreographing numerous routines for these events. He was selected to be a member of the NSW State Dance Company and has toured and performed with them around the world in places such as Los Angeles, Miami, Disney World, New York, Washington, The Caribbean and Paris. He has also successfully competed in many local eisteddfods and competitions with great results.
Corey successfully auditioned and made it to the Top 100 of Australia’s So You Think You Can Dance. Corey has been working for Norwegian Cruise Lines for the past 2 years, travelling the world, performing on their ships. He always looks forward to teaching at Static Dance Studios between his contracts.
Carly Cooper Smith
Carly Cooper Smith Showgroup
Carly has been dancing since the early age of 3. She is trained in jazz, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Elite gymnastics & is a certified xtend barre instructor. Carly completed her certificate IV in performing arts at Brent Street in 2007, she has been professionally dancing since 2008. In 2010 Carly was honored to be apart of the top 8 dancers on the third series of channel 10 ‘so you think you can dance’ Some of her other credits include; Kylie Minogue, Danni Minogue, Timomatic, Jessica Mauboy, Ricki Lee, X factor, Australia’s got talent, Next Top Model, the logie awards, Megan Trainor, Bonds, Fosters and Aladdin & his wondrous lamp. In 2012 Carly moved to Los Angeles to further her career & training, Since returning to Sydney in 2014 she has been working as a commercial dancer & teaching dance around Australia.
Ballet & Modern
Karlie Killeen Ballet & Modern
Miss Karlie began dancing at the age of 4. Completing all Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet exams from Pre-Primary right through to her Majors. Her love for all styles of dance stayed with her throughout her schooling years, she studied Dance for her HSC, of which she then got accepted into the Australian College of Physical Education to complete a Bachelor of Dance and Physical education degree and furthermore went on to complete her Masters Degree in Teaching.
Karlie teaches Dance and PDHPE within the Catholic Education system, where her love for teaching shows, particularly in her extra curricular efforts when working with her students on building teams to compete at the Bring It On and PDSSSC competitions. Most recently, Karlie went through training for a new program that Static Dance Studios is introducing, Ready Set Dance! and believes this is a great introductory syllabus for all young dancers and performers.
Her love for Dance has provided her with countless performance opportunities. Some of these being, celebrations for the Sydney Olympic games, Youth Olympics opening ceremonies, Competition performances at the Sydney Opera House and Crown Casino Dance Championships. Having worked, seasonly at the Sydney Opera House for 4 years, Karlie has gained valuable knowledge and a great insight into the performing arts industry, working closely with children, to cultivate their love and passion for the Arts.
Modern & Hip Hop
Nicole Taylor Modern & Hip Hop
Nicole has been dancing since the early age of 3. She is trained in jazz, tap, ballet, musical theatre, contemporary and hip-hop. Nicole completed her Certificate IV in Performing Arts at Urban Dance Centre in 2007 and has been dancing professionally since then. Some of her credits include ‘So You Think You Can Dance – Series 4 – Top 100’, Kelly Clarkson, Boyz II Men, Johnny Ruffo, Denni Hines and many more. Since 2012 Nicole has been working with the Locreado Dance Company, both performing and choreographing. Nicole has trained intensively in Los Angeles to further her dance career and training. Nicole specialises in both Contemporary and hip-hop and is renowned for her energy and unique style.
Brad Green Showgroup
Brad has been dancing for the past 21 years studying all aspects of the performing arts. He has studied the GWT Syllabus, RAD ballet, and also gained his cert. 4 in performing arts. During this time he has gone on to create a name for himself both as a performer and a choreographer. He is well renowned for his dynamic & inspirational work.
Over the past 10 years Brad has gained a wealth of experience as choreographer, working alongside some of the world’s best. During this time Brad has developed not only as a choreographer, but has been committed to enhancing the understanding of dance as an art form to an elite level in both dance studios and schools.
Kerrie Boness Tap
Kerrie started dancing at age 3 and soon realised that “Tap” was her thing. She studied BDA Syllabus for 10 years and started as a student teacher at age 14. At the age of 20, Kerrie passed her Teachers Exam in BDA (British Dancing Association). Kerrie has taught Tap in the local area for 10 years and studied privately with Glenn Wood before joining Static Dance Studios.
Babies, Tiny Tots & Cheerleading
Jess Yates Babies, Tiny Tots & Cheerleading
Jessica has been dancing and performing for 17 years. Trained in jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, acrobatics, musical theatre and cheerleading. She also has experience in ballroom and has her accreditation to coach American style cheerleading and tumbling.
Jessica worked at Sydney’s luna park as a dancer where she experience many styles such as swing, 20’s, 30’s and disco. She completed her HSC in 2013 with a band 6 in dance and received call backs for 2 practical components.
Her passion is, teaching and sharing what she loves with others.
Tap, Jazz & Ready Set Dance
Cassandra Lee Tap, Jazz & Ready Set Dance
Cassandra joined Static Dance in late 2015 as Matt & Trish’s Personal Assistant. In 2016 she is teaching our Saturday Ready Set Dance classes as well Adults Tap/Jazz and Levels 2, 4 and 5 Tap. Cassandra has over 30 years of teaching and owned her own studio for 13 years in Minchinbury. She has successfully completed Cert IV in Dance Performance Studies and Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Cassandra is thrilled to be back teaching again.
Tap & Jazz
Rebecca Horadam Tap & Jazz
Rebecca is a professional dancer that began dancing at the age of 2. She attended Gold Star Studios where she trained under a former Tap Dog in Tap as well as Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Her training in Tap is extensive; she has achieved outstanding results in all ATOD Tap exams and is also trained in the Glenwood Tap Syllabus. She has been involved in many musicals as well as television appearances in Australian Dramas such as Underbelly.
Rebecca has been an NRL cheerleader for a number of years, cheering for both the Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eel’s. She is currently a member of the Sydney Blue Sox Cheersquad and the ABL’s All Star Cheersquad.
Rebecca is a qualified primary school teacher and aims to instil a passion for dance and a love of performing in everyone she meets.
Tahlia Lee Tap
Tahlia has been training in genres of dance for 18 years, excelling in tap and joined Static Dance in 2015. At the young age of 6, she was a Showcase Australian Dance Champion in Jazz and Ballet. Tahlia has completed her Cert IV in Dance Performance Studies receiving Distinction in all her examinations. She has performed at weddings, The Motor Traders Associations Awards 2016, Fox Studios and many other professional gigs. Tahlia is a member of the Senior Showgroup and is now a highly regarded and reliable relief teacher for Static Dance Studios.
Ready, Set, Dance, Babies & Tiny Tots
Brooke Crismale Ready, Set, Dance, Babies & Tiny Tots
Brooke has been dancing since the age of three and since moving studios, has been a member of Static Dance Studios for 7 years.. She has been trained in various dance genres, as well as Glen wood Tap and Aerial including silk, lyra and trapezium.
She has been involved in numerous shows, flash mobs, local parades and private functions such as the football grand finales, dolton house flash mobs and MTA Awards to name a few. Brooke has been a member of show group for numerous years – currently in Senior show group and has competed in many local and interstate troupe eisteddfods with fantastic outcomes. Additionally, in high school Brooke was also the choreographer of the annual cheer leading competition resulting in great results.
Brooke has performed overseas in 2014 on the Carnival Spirit Cruise visiting the South Pacific, providing the performance aspect for the public. She has also been a member of Captivate, which is a performing arts program for Catholic Schools. Through this she has had numerous opportunities to perform at functions such as Bollywood Performance at the 2015 Tiny Tickers Ball – Heart Kids Foundation and entertainment for Basketball half time.
This year Brooke has joined Showtime Attractions which is one of Australia’s major eventing companies. Through this Brooke has had the opportunity to work, dance and perform at various events and festivals – working characters, minding characters, craft work, promotional staff and event staff, recently seen as a member for Nickelodeons Slime Cup 2016.
Most recently, Brooke has been welcomed into the Ready, Set Dance team throughout the week. Where her love for fun, adventure and working with children come into play and she is also seen as a relief teacher when needed.
Jazz & Modern
Nicole Cruceanu Jazz & Modern
Nicole has been growing as a dancer for the past 12 years. She began syllabus work at the age of 10 in tap (B.A.L & GWT), modern (FATD) and ballet (RAD) and received no lower than a distinction average in her gradework. At the age of 14 she represented Sydney at the 2009 International Dance Conference (Los Angeles) in which she learnt from world renowned choreographers and performed at Disneyland LA & California Adventure Park.
More recently, her HSC Dance Major Composition was accepted into 'Callbacks' which is a showcase of exemplary performances and compositions by HSC students of Dance. She also was extremely successful in her Higher School Certificate, achieving an ATAR(Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) of 92.45 and has been accepted into Physiotherapy at the Australian Catholic University. Whilst studying this year, she hopes to transfer her passion for dance and choreography onto her students, inviting dance as both a sport and form of art
Acrobatics & Jazz
Madi Kinder Acrobatics & Jazz
Madi started dancing at the young age of seven at Static Dance Studios and has progressed throughout the years from being a student teacher, teaching assistant and now into a fully-fledged full-time dance teacher.
Madi is Level 1 and 2 tumbling accredited through USASF, is trained in R.A.D. ballet and also received a Gold Award in all Glenn Wood Tap exams she has completed. She also has started her performance career with performing multiple shows on the Carnival Spirit cruise ship in 2013.
Her excitement in teaching a new stunt and her enjoyment when a student masters a difficult acrobatic trick has led to Madi being a beloved teacher at Static Dance Studios.
Acrobatics & Tumbling
Jacob Camilleri Acrobatics & Tumbling
Jacob is a highly experienced Acrobatics and Tumbling Instructor. He started his training at Static Dance Studios in 2007 under the tutelage of Matthew Scerri (Director) and is a seasoned competitor in acrobatics eisteddfods for both troupes and solos.
Jacob has gone on to become a sought after instructor in Dance Studios in Western Sydney. Starting his teaching career in 2011, he has gone from strength to strength with a high level of enjoyment in sharing his knowledge and skills.
To consolidate on his Acrobatics experience, Jacob is now part of a Level 3 Cheerleading Team, performing at Cheerleading competitions with great results!
With furthering his education as key, Jacob is currently studying a Bachelor of Primary Education at the University of Notre Dame, which will be completed in mid-2017.
Melanie Driver Singing
With a career spanning intimate cabaret nights and bombastic rock operas, Melanie Driver has the pipes and personality to stand out in an ever changing industry.
Off the back of her well-received take on “The Acid Queen” in Blue Mountains Musical Society's performance of The Who's Tommy, Melanie wowed the X Factor judges with a
rendition of River Deep, Mountain High, earning a standing ovation from Chris Isaak, Dannii Minogue, James Blunt and Guy Sebastian.
In addition to her television and musical appearances, the young songstress has wowed crowds with her cabaret arrangements of 80s rock and contemporary songs.
Tumbling & Cheer
Jessica Lopez Tumbling & Cheer
With over 15 years of dance training and 7 years of teaching experience, Jessica is an exceptionally skilful dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Jessica began her training as an All-Star in competitive cheer & dance in Orlando, FL. She has competed many years for NCA and USASF Cheer and Dance National competitions in the USA, placing 1st in many.
Jessica moved to Sydney about 2 years ago and has already had the privilege to choreograph, coach, and teach Hip Hop, Tumbling, Acrobatics, and Cheerleading across many studios in NSW. With extensive training in tumbling (levels 1-4) and all styles of Street Dance, Jessica specialises in teaching Tumbling and Hip-Hop.
Some of Jessica’s highlights have been choreographing and performing for special events and/or competitions at Disney World, Blink The Door I, II, & Finale; Amway Arena in Orlando, FL; Christmas Spectacular, Hillsong Conferences, Australian Dance Festival in Sydney and many more. She is currently completing her Cert IV in Training and Assessing, an Advanced Diploma at Hillsong International Leadership College, as well as working on staff to pioneer the new Dance Stream course - Hip Hop Technique.
Jessica is passionate about helping her students achieve their fullest potential and expanding their creativity. She thrives to enlarge her students’ skills and knowledge of dance as well as installing positive attitudes that will promote life skills beyond the dance studio.
Tiffany Tan RAD Ballet
Tiffany is passionate about many dance styles and is trained in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and more recently Contemporary. She began her dance training since the age of 5 in Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz training.
Specialising in ballet, she is a registered ballet dance teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance UK. She has 12 years of local and overseas experience teaching ballet to a wide range of age groups and experience levels from beginner to advance.
Tiffany gave up a career in accounting to follow her passion in dance and has since been happily teaching dance.
