Inspiring, creative, supportive, professional, caring, successful…… the list of adjectives to describe Static Dance Studios is endless. Children are an amazing, precious gift that many of us parents are extremely protective of. Every day hundreds of parents confidently send their children into the safe and skilled hands of the Static Dance staff. I have 3 young girls under the age of 8, one of which has been under the care of a phycologist for a diagnosed anxiety disorder. Speaking to people, interacting with peers, being apart from parents were daunting experiences for her. So we searched for a Dance studio to try to get some social interaction, fitness and most of all build a bit of confidence. Unfortunately our first studio did not help and actually made the situation worse. We stuck it out for 18 months to give it some time. Our other 2 daughters were also not enjoying it and didn’t want to go. After a long chat with another very satisfied client of Static and some research (we were going to be more prepared this time) we headed to Static to meet some of the staff. Wow, wow, wow !!! Right from the very first meeting, the enrolment and the amazing classes, Static Dance Studios outperformed our expectations. Our anxious little girl was happily skipping off to classes, talking with the teachers and begging to stay longer. Here was a child who was withdrawn, wouldn’t speak to her preschool teachers and had had over a year of psychologist sessions, actually interacting and thriving. A few months into their first year, her acro teacher was so excited and rushed to tell me after class that our silent little mouse was now talking in the class and she even had to remind her not to talk while the teacher was giving instructions to the class. It was so reassuring that the teacher was as excited about this as we were. Instead of this being a negative conversation with teacher after class and that she was being naughty, this staff member realised that this was an amazing milestone. The teacher was interested in her as a person not just how well she could kick her leg or point her toes. We have now been at Static dance Studios for 3 years and have 3 happily little dancers. Even after moving 35km away, we are happy to drive the 40 minutes to stay at Static Dance. We both have full time jobs and time is pretty stretched, but there’s no way in the world we would be searching for a studio closer to home. After chatting with other parents and observing other studios at eisteddfods, it is obvious that the staff at Static genuinely have the student’s best interests at heart. As a primary school teacher myself, I know how hard it can be working with children and us over protective parents. The Static staff are always calm and reassuring to both students and parents. Every child is treated as a person and not a number. No child is made to feel like the clumsy one shoved in the backline. Every student gets an important part in every dance and gets their time in the spotlight. They may be the one who leads a line out or gets to be the main person in the final pose. Every single student gets to feel special and important and not just there to make up the numbers. One of our girls rushed home to tell me that she gets to start off the dance on chair while everyone else is standing. Things like this may seem small and insignificant, but to a 6 year old, that’s her special part and her time to get noticed without any pressure placed upon her. At the beginning of the year, the girls were chatting about what dance teachers they were hoping to get this year. It was reassuring to hear them talk about 10 different staff members. They felt happy, comfortable and confident to have any teacher. There’s not just one or two teachers at the studio who the parents and students all want, the staff are all amazing and have all been at the studio for many, many years. High staff turnover is usually a sign of a poorly functioning, mismanaged business. The staff at Static are highly trained experts. It’s not just a group teenage girls who like to dance trying to control a group of 4 year old screaming little future ballerinas. This is a professional business that’s here for the long term. The staff are professional, highly trained and happy working at the Studio. Dance Studios are everywhere. Everyone thinks that they can dance so they can open a studio. It takes more than just being to doing the splits and perfectly pointed toes. Dance mums like to talk and always want the best for their children. Us dance mums don’t get that “Dance Mums” name for no reason. We’re a tough lot to please and boy can we whinge and complain, which is the reason why Static is growing at a rapid pace. Good old word of mouth. An unsatisfied dance mum will shout it from the roof tops. The dance mums (and dads!) at Static proudly tell their friends and acquaintances how good Static Dance Studios really are. The studio is now like family. We boast to anyone around. A high percentage of new enrolments have come to Static from word of mouth. It’s a bit of a cut throat industry where people pull their children out at the drop of a hat. This is definitely not the case for Static. At last year’s presentation day, the amount of students receiving their 10 and 5 year medals was amazing. Parents and students are truly happy there. Costumers rarely stick with a business for 5 or even 10 years, Static Dance student is rare. People can advertise and promise you the world. You won’t find many Dance Studios that offer the individualised, caring and support service that Static stand for and that they give to their customers.
